We have a very exciting plan to remove the area of flat roof and extend the pitched roof to cover the
whole of the Hall. The foyer end would match the Anna Harvey Room end, including a matching window.
As well as enormously improving the appearance of the Hall, it would solve the intermittent problem of
leaks and reduce energy loss.
There is an even more enticing prospect! We will be able to install a projection/ lighting/sound box
Giving the Main Hall facilities for the Bursledon Players and similar groups. The Head Teacher of the
Infant and Junior Schools is very keen to put on productions in the Hall. This is part of what he said in
his letter.
"I understand that there are plans to install a lighting, sound and projection box in the hall. This would
make a good facility great and give our children the opportunity to perform with a proscenium arch and
professional technology. What an enriching experience that would be!"
Our fund raising programme over the past few years has made the dream almost a reality and now is
the time to make the final effort and this what we are asking you all to do.
1. The first is the large new window which will be above the new front door. The sum for sponsoring
this is £1,000 and in fact we have already had an anonymous donation for it – a wonderful start to
our campaign.
2. The second is the flight of stairs leading to the new floor. There are 14 steps in this staircase and
they are being sold at £100 each. All 14 have now been taken!
3. The third method is by buying roof tiles at £10 each. As there will be 4,800 tiles on the new roof and
over 10,000 on the roof as a whole. There is no shortage of tiles!!
